Start with a conversation

If you are considering The Nest for a young person or group, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss what they need and what you hope a placement could achieve.

We offer group and individual pathways for young people in Years 1–9. Both provide a weekly, full-day programme for a minimum of one full term.

Two ways to join The Nest

Our curriculum focuses on three connected areas of social and emotional development. Each programme is shaped around the priorities of the young people taking part.

Group Placements

For schools or federations commissioning a programme for up to eight young people with compatible needs.

Each group is supported by two Nest Education Leaders and an accompanying school representative.

Activities are planned around shared priorities within our three curriculum pillars.

Transport, breakfast, lunch and snacks are included.

£780 per group, per session, for a minimum of one full term.

A discounted rate of £575 per session is available to schools with more than 30% of pupils eligible for free school meals.

Individual Placements

For young people joining a carefully matched group of four to six from different settings.

Two Nest Education Leaders support each group, with the programme shaped around referral information and identified needs.

Group formation considers age, compatibility and the support required.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. Transport arrangements should be discussed during your enquiry.

£150 per young person, per session, for a minimum of one full term.

Is The Nest the right fit?

Before making a referral, consider whether the young person:

  • Is in Years 1–9.

  • Needs additional support with social and emotional skills affecting school life.

  • Would benefit from a weekly, full-day experiential programme.

  • Has goals that align with our curriculum pillars.

  • Can be supported through an ongoing partnership between The Nest and their school or referring setting.

We will explore suitability with you, including existing support, relevant risks and the young person’s own views.

If you are unsure, please get in touch. An initial discussion can help establish whether to proceed.

From first enquiry to first day

1. Tell us what you are looking for

Contact us about a group or individual placement. At this stage, please provide a general outline without names or sensitive personal information.

2. Explore suitability together

We discuss needs, intended outcomes, current support and practical arrangements. A visit may also help you understand the setting and our approach.

3. Complete the referral information

If a placement looks appropriate, we explain the referral information required and how to share it securely.

4. Agree the placement

We review the information, confirm suitability and discuss availability. Individual placements depend on forming a compatible group, so an enquiry may lead to a waiting period.

And finally, prepare to begin their Nest journey

We agree the programme arrangements and share the information needed to help the young person, school and family prepare.

Working together throughout the placement

Referral information helps us understand each young person’s strengths, needs, goals and existing support. We also need relevant information about health, safeguarding, access requirements and any risks that may affect participation.

We will explain what is required and how it should be shared.

Progress is assessed during the programme and shared with the commissioning school or professional. Reviews consider engagement, developing skills, effective strategies and next steps.

Where a further term may be helpful, this is discussed together. Schools can also explore longer-term partnerships, with cohorts reviewed each term.
