On a Romans KS2 school trip, you will be legionaries in the Roman army in Roman Britain with the hope of making a name for yourselves and earning your way up through the ranks...

Step into the world of Calleva Atrebatum on a KS2 Romans trip

At Ufton Court, we bring Roman history to life through immersive storytelling, hands-on activities, and engaging drama. Our KS2 Roman school trips transport children into the heart of a bustling Roman town, where they become legionaries, citizens, and apprentices in a mission to prove themselves worthy of the empire.

Our trips are curriculum-aligned and designed to inspire curiosity and deep learning. Whether you're visiting for a day or staying overnight, we provide unforgettable, hands-on learning in a truly unique setting.

The Itinerary and Risk Assessment

After an introductory talk that sets the scene, students will spend the day living and working like Romans. They will learn how the Roman Empire shaped Iron Age Britain and reflect on the contrasts, connections and trends that defined the era. This programme engages children in critical thinking, teamwork and historical inquiry, offering a vibrant glimpse into life under Roman rule.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Roman soldier? Join the ranks and learn how to fight for the empire! Practice your formations, defend your comrades, and prove your courage on the training ground. But beware—Rome demands total dedication. Are you ready to give it your all?

The Roman Empire was built on the strength of its disciplined and well-trained soldiers. In this activity, children will learn the basics of Roman battle formations, teamwork, and strategy.
